Från programförklaringen:

Collaborative Mentorship

Boys need and deserve mentorship, as do parents.
Our society emphasizes individual achievement and separation from difficult feelings.Boys are strongly pressured to emotionally isolate themselves, leading to communication blocks which parents may label as rudeness, stonewalling, lack of cooperation, and lack of consideration.
We adults have created songs, advertisements, movies, games, and magazines which depict men, women, girls and boys in unwholesome gender stereotyped roles. Young and old, many of us are confused about how to be and how to relate to one another.
So, what can we do, as parents and mentors, on behalf of our sons?
What if their attraction to superheros and even violent gaming could be understood as signals of boys’ positive potential to contribute to our world? What if we could discover how our boys’ desire to respect themselves in such a way that they naturally stand up for and protect those in need? How can their confidence and assertiveness grow and aggressiveness diminish? What will help boys connect them to their emotions and to the natural world? How can we help boys direct their natural yearning for risk-taking, challenges and mastery in the most positive directions?
As a community, we will form common understandings about ways to teach, model and mentor that will help boys in these ways.In this context, we will also strive to discern the commonalities and differences in our roles as mothers, fathers, and mentors, and how these roles might evolve as our sons mature.

Jag bläddrar bland deras foton på Facebook och hittar många spännande uppslag. Barn behöver äventyr – men språket är också viktigt.

Ibland blir det aningen mansromantiskt och new age – men det är smällar man får ta.
